![]() years later various individuals started contracting a mysterious illness that causes them to cough up blood, and hallucinate visions of Judgement tormenting them, one such individual being the Drifter, the main protagonist. Judgement might have been sealed away but his influence still lingered. the races of the north, south, east, and west where able to destroy the titans and seal the Immortal Cell underground, but only at a great cost. ![]() Its second call to action was reactivating the four mechanical titans left behind by the ancient Liberian race and send them on a rampage on what's left of the world. Using the full power of the "Great Wellspring" Judgement creates a large explosion that devastated most the land. The cell then became sentient with a will of its own and thus became what is now known as Judgement. However as the lesser races began to fear its power and what the consequences of such power might bring, its purpose became transmogrified. It also might be nice to note that in egyptian mythology Anubis took on the role of guiding souls to their fates.Judgement was originally a large artificial crystal created by the four races to be a "perfect immortal cell" for the sole purpose of harvesting its power and granting them immortality. Yeah, this is really good! I agree with all of this. The story of how and what happened are preserved by oral recitation of the survivors and monoliths erected by one of the races (possibly the same race that the Drifter and the town drunk is descended of). The Titans were unleashed at some point, whether as a result of the Immortal Cell is uncertain, and they practically decimated everything before being eventually destroyed. Using this power to tinker and tamper with life as they saw fit (the Dirks and many of the enemies in-game can be seen in those tank vats in the Southern Zone's dungeons), either as an intellectual excersise or to fight the Titans, hasn't been figured yet. This power was harnessed by the races and the Immortal Cell was created. The short of it is: Anubis is the embodiment of nature and its natural processes in this world the "Wellspring" is in reference to its power. ![]() Originally posted by PoopaPapaPalpatine:Been stewing my idea of the story since I beat the game some time ago, and since I can't be bothered to join Reddit just to post it, I'll do it here since it's the most recently active (at the time of this posting) in 23 hours. Anubis granting our Drifter a glimpse, perhaps, of the future he help create before he dies. With the Immortal Cell gone, the world, in a manner of speaking, resets itself so the natural order may proceed again. It is our Drifter in the game that manages to walk the distance, paved by the efforts of the Drifters before him, and manages to, figuratively, fight through Judgement's affliction and destroy the Immortal Cell before he, himself, succumbs to the disease in the end. Judgement being the manifestation of that energy from an aritficial source as opposed to Anubis being the manifestation of that energy itself.Īnubis leads Drifters as far as they can make it towards the Immortal Cell, many being taken by the disease before they can make it to the end. Judgement and Anubis are, technically, one in the same. Those seeking to find the cause and end the sickness, perhaps all, are lead by visions of a jackal, "Anubis", the embodiment of the very power that the Immortal Cell draws from. In an undisclosed amount of time future, in the aftermath of the Titans, whatever left of the races are trying to rebuild themselves but a plague, "Judgement", afflicts the land because of the perverted Immortal Cell.
